ISOCLAUS

In the document ive attached you can see two attempts at using the resultant systems from my definitions as snapable points for hypotehsising spatial constructs. The first sketch kind of highlights where i wanted to go with the translation and some potential ideas i had regarding the eventual outcome. The next set of axons show the first attempt where i basically took all the points from one iteration and made a continous surface. You can tell that it hosts very tall and cramped spaces in the core and more wide spaces on the perirephy.

After the bracket is the next try. this time i made closed crytal-like polygons for each general collection of points. Im not entirely sold on the shape and formal character, thats why i resorted to smoothing the shapes in max in the rendering them on the right. Illl continue to experiment with this kind of geometry.

The dicussion with Jenny was very fruitful. She suggested that perhaps the membrane that seperates the various isolating and wide spaces can in fact be occupiable itself and serve as "claustraphobia." At times the claustraphobic spaces widen themselves and a paradox occurs wherein one doenst know if they are occupiing the space between the membrane itself or a new larger space outside the inner walls of the divide. We also talked about some of the ways the membrane can perhaps support the qualitative nature of these two spaces. For example in areas of solitude the divide becomes thin and can allow for light and sensory connection to the outside, while other parts it remains thick.

I plan to do some experimental models and see if i can learn how the nature of the spaces can be influenced by the material selection.
